Well, what to say? I am an author, writer, fitness pro, speaker, rock music photographer, mom, and a fierce chocolate lover. Oh, and as I like to say, an ‘instigator of change.’
Nine years ago I finally won my personal battle with weight and lost 82 pounds. I had struggled for a big part of my life, going from thin to overweight, then back to thin to obese, never quite feeling ‘good enough.’ The weight loss came at a pivotal time in my life (see my weight loss story) right after my father passed away. Seeing him die right in front of me gave me a reality-check and pushed me towards a healthier lifestyle. This healthier lifestyle (which also includes chocolate, he he) inspired me to become a fitness pro to help others.
“(The Sun Will Come Up) Tomorrow”
During this life-changing journey I learned the hard way that ‘tomorrow never comes’ and that you have to make your own life happen—not wait for tomorrow or wait for someone else to save you. You’ve got to save yourself. I had spent years waiting for the perfect time when life would become easy and all my dreams would just magically come true.
But there is no perfect time. All we have is now.
“C’mon Baby Light My Fire”
I speak to groups and schools to hopefully inspire them to (re)discover their passions and not wait ‘until tomorrow’ to follow their dreams.
And since writing had always been my own dream since I was a young ‘un (it took 30 years for me to get back to it), I now show others how to write and publish their own books. This is an absolutely fantastic and exciting time to be a writer, and the opportunities to share your story and help others are endless. People have great ideas for books and don’t know how to “get it out of their heads and onto a bookshelf.” I hope to help change that.

Reignite Inc. is a nonprofit I founded to help women gain skills to re-enter the workforce or to build their own businesses. Why do I care? Because I have been there. I have had to rebuild a life after divorce, learn new skills and do pretty much anything (including cashing in bottles for gas) to support my kids. I want to help other women ‘get their work groove back.’ Reignite is in its early stages, but if you want to help out, donate or share your talents, please contact Reignite. We would love to have you!
In my ‘free’ time, I interview rock stars and photograph rock concerts. I also still teach Spinning classes, which is my love—and one of the things that truly helped save my life (and lets me eat chocolate).
